La Shield Sunscreen Gel SPF 40 Review

Here is the review of La Shield Sunscreen Gel SPF 40.

Product Description:
La Shield Sunscreen Gel comes in a white plastic tube with golden screw cap. The packaging is very basic, nothing fancy about it. It is a product from the house of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. The sunscreen is light yellow in colour and has a faint floral smell. The tube packaging says it’s gel but actually it is a cream.

Product Claims:
It claims to be oil free, gel sunscreen. It is a dermatologist tested product. It filters UVA and UVB rays and improves skin hydration. It is non irritant, water resistant, preservative free, alcohol and dye free and without any artificial colours.

Product Price: 60 gm of the product retails for 675 INR.

My Thoughts On La Shield Sunscreen Gel SPF 40:
I bought the sunscreen thinking that it is a gel based one. The package information also says so. But it is no where close to being a gel sunscreen. It is a thick cream based sunscreen which makes you appears like a fried papad! Even if I apply the tiniest amount, it ends up making my skin so oily that no compact powder can take care of! It is the biggest disappointment of the product, marketing a heavily oily sunscreen as gel one. That is the reason why most oily skinned ladies refrain from applying sunscreen. The good points are that it applies smoothly, almost like velvet. It doesn’t give a white cast on skin. It stays on the face for a long time, no amount of sweating or wiping budges it.

Recommended only for very dry skin. As for oily skin beauties, don’t even look at it. The hunt for perfect oily free sunscreen continues…
